The Honolulu Star-Advertiser recently published a story featuring Esther Chan, a sophomore at Punahou High School, who created a free, online video class that teaches kupuna how to be cyber safe online. Chan was one of 25 students in the nation to receive the 2022 Prudential Emerging Visionaries award for her "Cyber Safe Seniors" curriculum. This award recognizes teens ages 14 to 18 who address societal changes and inspire others to impact their community. In the article, Chan also mentioned that her interest in cyber safety was sparked from being a member of the CompuGirls Hawaii Fall 2020 Cohort. Chan has also received guidance from Jodi Ito, chief information security officer of University of Hawaii and chair of CyberHawaii.
